About Us

Over Three Generations of Contracting Experience

Mike Sproule has been in the Construction Industry since he was a young boy. His father, operated a construction business for over 40 years. Mike learned a great deal about the industry while following in his father’s footsteps, but nothing he learned was more important than the advice he was given to always “TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMER”.

Today, we still pride ourselves on taking care of our customer by giving them a great job, being honest, and providing service after the sale. Matt Heller, Mike and Laurie Sproule’s son-in-law (married to their daughter Anna) became partners with Mike over three years ago. Matt grew up on a local family farm and he too learned to master a hard and honest work ethic. Matt and Anna have three children who have already become involved in working in the business. In Memory of Nicholas Michael Sproule

Mike and Nick Sproule Construction w/MATT HELLER is a Family Owned Business Now Entering its 4th Generation!

The Sproule family settled near Galena in 1836, on property that Mike and Laurie live on today. His earliest ancestors were loggers, who also hauled products from steamboats to various buildings around town. His grandfather owned some buildings in town at one time and also raised and sold horses.

Mike’s father, Kenneth, started a quarry business with his brother Cy, just before Mike was born — the last of nine children. He expanded into underground utility work in the 1960s. By the time Mike was a teenager, he was learning from Dad, while his mom, Vesta, did the paperwork.

In the early 1990s, Kenneth decided to settle down and farm on the property. At this time, Mike assumed more ownership and responsibilities to bring the Company to where it is today.
